The problem of accurate rendition of colours is quite complex and involves interaction between the browser, the host windowing environment and the actual specification.
Netscape will only accurately render, it is claimed, colours which have RGB values that are one of the hexdecimal pairs 00, 33, 66, 99, CC and FF. This gives a total of 63 ( = 216) possible colours. The following table displays all the colours.

NN and OP2 undoubtedly handled this best. ARA seemed only to
support 16 colours, IE mis-rendered some colours and MOS3 crashed
